Overcoming Challenges

No significant endeavor comes without its challenges, and building our mud house was no exception. One of the most persistent obstacles was the weather. Mud construction is highly dependent on dry conditions, as excessive moisture can weaken the structure. During rainy seasons, work often came to a standstill, forcing us to wait for the sun to dry out the materials and the site. These delays tested our patience, but they also taught us the value of perseverance.

Another challenge was sourcing materials. While mud was abundant, finding the right balance of clay, sand, and straw was not always easy. We experimented with different mixtures, sometimes tearing down sections of the wall that didn’t meet our standards and starting over. This trial-and-error process was frustrating at times, but it was also a crucial part of learning and refining our technique.

Financial constraints were another hurdle we faced. Building a house, even with low-cost materials like mud, still requires resources. We had to be frugal and creative, often repurposing materials and relying on the goodwill of our community for support. But in these challenges, we found strength. Each obstacle reinforced our commitment to the project and deepened our appreciation for the work we were doing.

Lessons in Patience and Perseverance

As the years went by, the construction of our mud house became a lesson in patience and perseverance. The slow pace of progress could have been discouraging, but instead, it allowed us to savor each milestone. The process became a meditation on the value of taking things slow, of allowing time to do its work, and of trusting in the gradual unfolding of our vision.

We also learned the importance of adaptability. There were times when our original plans had to be adjusted—whether due to unforeseen challenges or new insights gained along the way. Each change required us to be flexible and open-minded, to let go of rigid expectations and embrace the evolving nature of the project. In doing so, we discovered that sometimes, the best outcomes are those that emerge from unexpected directions.

The Final Stages: Crafting a Home

The final stages of construction were a blend of excitement and nostalgia. By this time, the house had taken shape, and we could see our dream materializing before our eyes. But there was still work to be done. Plastering the walls with lime and natural pigments, installing the roof, and adding the finishing touches required as much care and attention as the earlier stages.

The interior of the house was designed to be as organic as the exterior, with curved walls, built-in furniture, and natural lighting that created a warm, inviting atmosphere. Every detail, from the placement of windows to the choice of flooring, was carefully considered to enhance the feeling of connection with the surrounding environment.

As we completed the final touches, there was a deep sense of fulfillment. The house was not just a building; it was a living, breathing entity that reflected the values and aspirations of everyone who had contributed to its creation. It was a space that invited reflection, creativity, and a profound sense of peace.

I have availed their Day Long Package with family (Without Rooms, since all the rooms were booked due to the Eid rush). Food Quality was really good and they served both breakfast & lunch till late hours. Unfortunately couldn’t taste their evening snacks as they couldn’t serve it on time. Swimming pool size is good but lacks proper management. They don’t have much activities apart from the swimming pool. Overall good but definitely there is some room for improvement. For example: putting on signage en route for new comers would make it more easier to travel there.

Our group size was 21 people consisting of children, elders and in between. Their check in time was 2 pm but they couldn't get the rooms ready when it was touching at almost 3pm. It feels like all the employees are relatives of the management because they themselves look like lost puppies. Not sure what to do with the guests or how to operate a resort. They are running with inadequate staff quantity. Let's say they need 100 but only have 20 so you have to constantly search for people for help. Nobody is showing you their attractions. They only have 1-2 buggy drivers for the entire resort. Nobody is nearby the swimming pool to provide a life jacket or other instructions. We liked the rooms and foods and those are the only things we liked. Deducted one star because there is no privacy in the rooms in the villas. You can literally talk with your downstairs or upstairs neighbor through the floor. Their wood panelings are already coming apart so the villas need constant maintenance. They provided expired toiletries so we needed to change them.

This is “Matir Scam”. The price they charge is outrageous for the condition of the room and the appalling service. The room’s amenities are almost nonexistent — no soft drinks in refrigerator, no hair dryer, no ventilation in the bathroom. The swimming pool was filthy, and they only bothered to clean it after we complained.Staff? Hardly any, and the few that were there had zero interest in doing their job.The receptionist acted like he was in a coma — no greeting, no emotion, no welcome drink. The children's playground is a joke. It’s tiny with barely anything to do.There’s so much more wrong here, but to sum it up: don’t waste your money. Avoid this place unless you want to flush your money down the drain.

My friends and I recently visited this place. Before travelling, we read the reviews, and one common complaint was that the place was hard to find. I think the management has addressed this issue well. There are now clear signs of which direction to follow starting from the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway. The resort is simply amazing. If you are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of Dhaka city then this is the place to be. The landscape is stunning. Although the houses are made of mud, the interiors are pretty modern. The views from the balcony are something to behold. The food is good, but there is room for improvement. The staff was very welcoming, and we received excellent service. They went out of their way to accommodate our needs, which we highly appreciate. As we went during the winter season, we were a little worried about mosquitoes and insects. Surprisingly, there were hardly any mosquitoes or insects. We played cricket and badminton, rowed boats, and spent time in the large swimming pool. It was a memorable trip for us, and we will cherish it.

Although the drive was little challenging due to the road closure the location is really nice. Entrance has no sign so we had to rely on GPS. Rooms were not well kept up but reasonably comfortable. Unfortunately there was lot of mosquitoes and we had to ask for some remedy but service was annoyingly delayed. The food was good. People in the dining hall were very attentive and that made the overall experience deserving three stars.
